What Is FDDS And
How Does It Benefit You?
The First District Dental Society (FDDS) is composed of approximately 200 qualified regional member dentists representing the dental professional community in the upper East Tennessee areas including the following counties: Washington, Sullivan, Carter, Greene, Johnson, Unicoi, and Hawkins Counties. The FDDS is a component society of the Tennessee Dental Association (TDA) and the American Dental Association (ADA). Our members have the advantage of the full benefits of each branch of the tripartite affiliation.
Object of FDDS
The object of this non- profit Dental Association is to encourage the improvement of the health of the public, to promote the art and science of dentistry and to represent the interests of the members of the dental profession and the public which it serves.
On a local level the FDDS provides opportunities for and with the members meet together on a regular basis and to earn continuing education credits. We provide to member, as well as non-member, dentists the opportunity to stay up to date with yearly OSHA/TOSHA training and Bi-annual Chemical Dependency for the entire team. We also host a staff appreciate event each Spring.
Helping Community
The First District Dental Society is proud to serve our community in a variety of ways. One of our main initiatives is providing volunteer dentistry services to those in need. In addition to our hands-on work, we also donate funds to several organizations that share our commitment to improving dental health in the area, including Healing Hands in Bristol TN, Friends in Need in Kingsport TN, and Keystone Dental in Johnson City TN. We are also passionate about investing in the future of dental care by providing scholarships to the Dental Assisting program at Northeast State Community College and making donations to the ETSU Hygiene School. Finally, we proudly support the Tennessee Dental Association Foundation through financial contributions to help promote oral health throughout the state. Through our volunteer efforts and financial contributions, we are dedicated to creating a healthier, happier community.

Principles of Ethics of the
American Dental Association
As stated in the TDA Bylaws, “The Principles of Ethics of the American Dental Association shall be the Principles of Ethics of this Association and shall govern the professional conduct of the membership. Additional principles, not in conflict with the Principles of Ethics of the American Dental Association, may be adopted by the Association and by the component societies, to further govern the professional conduct of its members.”
