The FDDS was proud to host International Certified Public Speaker, Mark LeBlanc at our March Meeting. Thank you Mark for sharing your insights and inspiration on "Your Quest for the Best".

Mark and Dr Cameron

First Annual Women's Dental Luncheon was a HUGE Success. We enjoyed a special "laughter yoga" session at the beginning of the meeting followed by a meal and speaker. The event was held at the Blackthorn Club in Jonesborough, TN. We had 18 female dentists in attendance.

Special thanks to our speaker, Dr. Terryl Proper for sharing insights on Leadership in Dentistry!

Here are some photos from the event.

Meet our New FDDS Executive Secretary:

Savannah Bolick!

Savannah attended North East State Community College and received Associates in Applied Science as well as a Dental Assisting license in 2017. After working in private practice as a RDA, Savannah furthered her career and attended the UT College of Dentistry Expanded Functions RDA Program. She is currently employed at an Expanded Functions RDA at Ridge View Family Dental.

Savannah was born and raised on a small farm in the mountains of North Carolina in a rural area of Avery County. She has very supportive parents and an older brother. She has been married for 3 years to her sweet husband Daniel. They are a family of 3 with their fur baby Haddie and they reside in the town of Jonesborough, Tennessee. Savannah enjoys the outdoors, playing tennis, traveling, a good movie, and time with friends and family.

The FDDS Officers and Executive Council are excited to welcome Savannah to the First District Dental Family! Savannah will be shadowing and training with Brooke for the next three months. Please make certain to introduce yourself and say, “Hi!” to Savannah at our next FDDS meeting!

Savannah has had a love and a passion for the dental field as long as she can remember. Growing up she spent a lot of time in the dental lab of a close family friend which fueled her interest to pursue a career in dentistry. Savannah has a goal to be an advocate for oral health and continue to teach others the benefits of dental care.

FDDS Presents Admiral Anderson Award

The Admiral Anderson Award is the highest award given by the FDDS. Dr. Frank Anderson practiced for many years in our community and was a leader in the dental profession. Admiral Anderson served in the U.S. Navy for many years and achieved the distinction of being the highest ranking naval officer that was also a dentist. This award was named in his honor.

This award (which is not given every year) is given for going above and beyond as a leader in the FDDS, the dental profession, and our community. This individual has been an advocate for younger dentists and helping them be successful in our community and has been an advocate for fostering volunteerism in the dental community. This year the FDDS would like to recognize Dr. Allen Burleson as the recipient of the Admiral Anderson Award. Dr. Burleson was presented the award by our TDA Trustee Dr. Mike Lamb at the FDDS, February 12, 2023, Meeting.

Congratulations to Dr. Rick Guthrie for being named the 2022 Recipient of the Dr. Dale Willis Humanitarian award.

Dr. Guthrie was presented with this award by representatives from the Healing Hands Health Center (including Mrs. Dale Willis) at his dental Office on Friday, December 16, 2022. The FDDS wants to thank Dr. Guthrie for the countless volunteer hours he has generously given to help those in need in our Region.
