First District Dental Society members and nonmembers.
It is that time once again. We will be holding our bi-annual Chemical Dependency & Opioid Prescription Writing in TN continuing education course. This course will satisfy your two hours of required Chemical Dependency and two hours of required Opioid Prescription Writing in TN. This year our course will be taught by Dr. David Sain D.D.S., M.S. and will be offered via ZOOM.
We anticipate a large attendance.
We are asking that you and your staff attend as an office to keep the number of ZOOM attendees in range of what it will hold. Of course if you are not currently with a dental practice you may attend individually. This is a great opportunity for teambuilding with your office. Have dinner catered and watch as a team. Please encourage your staff to attend.
Cost for this course will be as follows.
Members, Dentist and team members:
$35.00 per person.
Non-Members, Dentists, and team members:
$70.00 per person.

Registration Process
Once your registration form is received you will be notified by email with further Zoom instructions. Please read them thoroughly. Again, this is a first come, first serve course The P.O. box will be checked daily beginning today. We will not be able to accept any registration forms after Thursday, February 9th so please try to get them in as quickly as possible. All of the registrations must be keyed individually which takes time so we can not accept any call ins or registration forms after February 9th.

After attaining a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Tennessee Dental School, Dr. Sain completed his formal dental education in 1982 with a Master’s Degree in Orthodontics. He enjoyed a successful practice of orthodontics in Murfreesboro, Tennessee for 35 years. Among the many areas of his involvement in the dental community throughout the years, he taught at Vanderbilt Medical School’s Dental Division as an Assistant Professor of Orthodontics, as well as had articles published in leading orthodontic journals. He has also served on the Board of the Interdental Faith Clinic, Tennessee Technology Center’s Dental Assisting Program, and is presently serving on the Foundation Board of the Rutherford County Drug Court.
While being a member of the Tennessee Dental Association’s Wellness Committee for 14 years and serving as the Chairman for 10 years, he has studied and gained extensive knowledge concerning substance use disorders, and has had articles published on subjects such as “Genetics of Chemical Dependency” and “Interoffice Intervention for Chemical Dependency.” He has served on two of Govern Haslam’s Commission including “Tennessee Commission on Pain and Addiction Medicine Education.”
Having sold his orthodontic practice, his main focus and attention now is serving as the Director of the Tennessee Dental Wellness Foundation Program.

– Prescription writing – What does the “prudent” dentist do?
You will receive two hours of continuing education credit and this will fulfill your two-hour requirement for chemical dependency and prescription writing for one cycle (two years).
